Looking over Phnom Penh towards the slowly filled lake
The lakeside area of PP, where I and many first time travelers stay is being filled in to make new land for real estate developers. The people who lived on the lake and beside it are being squeezed out as they are anywhere in Cambodia where their property is worth more to someone more connected than they.
A Thirty something......(lol, well i was when i first wrote this!) teacher from NZ, decided in 06 to get out of NZ and travel through Asia before infirmities unnamed stopped me.
Traveled through SE Asia in 07 and came across Cambodia with the intention of "seeing the temples and surf" then skip off to Laos.
Loved the place and kept coming back until i finally decided to make a go of living, working in Phnom Penh. (The decision was made in the chill of London after the Kiwis defeat to France in the World Cup) shudder
So here i am, working in PP, living a life that in some respects is very much samesame to the one i had in NZ but in other ways......
Hopefully it is worth reading.

unfortunately Bighead and I have parted ways.
I'm thinking that Gone Beach has run it...
